Children’s Education on Sundays
Activity hour is available during the 9:00 service (10:00 in summer). The 2 and 3 year olds' curriculum involves learning about Jesus, about the Episcopal Church, and that God loves them. They do this by reading Bible stories and making crafts.
The 4 year olds through 3rd grade continue with the "Catechesis of the Good Shepherd." This curriculum follows the liturgical calendar, focusing on the feasts of Christmas, Easter, and Pentecost. This curriculum includes presentation on the altar and activities used in liturgy, liturgical colors, liturgical calendar, presentation of the cruets of water and wine, and preparation of the chalice.
The 4th, 5th, and 6th grades continue to explore the Episcopal Children's Curriculum. This curriculum is built on four foundations: the Old Testament, the New Testament, the Sacraments, and the Church. It follows the narrative of the Biblical Story, while highlighting the Episcopal customs and practices.
The 7th, 8th, and 9th grades explore the Episcopal Curriculum for Youth. This curriculum challenges young people to test their values in the context of their Christian faith. The curriculum makes Biblical characters come to life as real people who deal with issues of good and evil, happiness, truth, and ultimately, meaning. It also covers the foundations of the Anglican tradition.
Our 10th, 11th, and 12th grade Sunday school is following a three-year curriculum called the Communion of Saints. Each week they focus on the life of a particular saint to see what they can learn by example. The intention is to place students in "conversation" with Biblical, historical, and contemporary saints.
Nursery
